5-bay 3.5”/2.5” SATA expansion

Easily expand Synology DiskStation with 5 additional hard drive bays. The DX517 supports 2.5” and 3.5” SATA drives, making it a highly flexible solution that can be used for both on-the-fly volume expansion and as a local backup destination.

Online volume expansion

The additional bays of the DX517 are managed through the DiskStation Manager on the host NAS and are ready for use as soon as the expansion unit is connected. Hot-expansion allows storage and services on the host to continue running uninterrupted during volume expansion.

Hot-swap hard drive tray

The DX517’s hot-swappable hard drive trays allow for easy installation and replacement without shutting down the system. The screwless design of the hard drive trays ensures that the system is set up in a flash.
